People of a certain age clearly remember the very first moon landing in 1969 and Neil Armstrong’s thrilling words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Now a new generation will soon be watching NASA’s Artemis launch as humans again seek to explore the moon’s surface.
Locals can learn more about our nearest neighbor in a presentation this Thursday evening, Oct. 13. Dr. Don DeYoung will speak on “The Moon’s Origin, Design, and Age” at the Berean Bible Church, 211 W. Beaver in Fort Morgan from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Dr. DeYoung holds a PhD in physics and has written twenty-one books. He speaks on a broad range of Bible-science topics and believes that the details of nature are a powerful testimony to the Creator’s care for us. His engaging speaking style makes him popular with both adults and children. He often uses object lessons to help listeners understand even complicated concepts.
He and his wife have three married daughters and ten grand- and great-grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys kayak-fishing and Grand Canyon backpacking where he has done two roundtrip, rim-to-north rim canyon hikes.
The meeting is sponsored by Northeast Colorado Creation Group, a nonprofit, non-denominational ministry whose mission is to offer alternatives to evolutionary theory. This educational group brings in speakers from across the country for its free monthly meetings and welcomes children, teens, and adults to these family-friendly presentations. The session is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be taken to cover Dr. DeYoung’s expenses as he travels from Indiana. Refreshments will be served.
