Blue-chip artist and owner of Winn Slavin Fine Art Gallery of Beverly Hills, Sir Daniel Winn, will premiere his first art film "Creation" as part of the 2022 Asian World Film Festival (AWFF). "Creation" will screen on November 17th in conjunction with the AWFF’s winning Oscar-nominated film at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, CA.

Directed by Angel E. Vera of veraONEproductions and produced by Emmy-winning producer and Asian World Film Festival President Georges N. Chamchoum, "Creation" is an experimental, Kubrick-style short that expresses Sir Daniel Winn’s artist philosophy of “Existential Surrealism.”

“After an 8-year hiatus, I never thought I would be immersed in one of the most challenging artistic creations of my 54 years in the movie business,” states Chamchoum. “Working with Sir Daniel is like living in his mind and heart—a kaleidoscope, a world of color, emotions and creativity in the purest sense of these attributes. 'Creation' is a feast for the eyes and ears. 'Creation' is an esoteric trip. 'Creation' is a unique experience that digs deep into your soul!”

Through an array of visuals, music, dance, and art, the film follows an artist from another realm as he enters our world by way of a mysterious portal. Upon entering, the artist begins with a meditation process which presents him with inspirational visions. After finding his inspiration, he begins his “creation.” What starts with such earthly elements as dirt and clay is ultimately fashioned into breathtaking sculptures of two nude forms, female and male, consisting of bronze, lucite, and stainless steel. At the end of the film, the artist returns to the desert to meet his creations once more where “Femme” and “Homme” stand on their own in the isolated surroundings as the artist makes his way through a mountainous environment toward the ocean and ultimately back to the portal, leaving his creations behind.

“Creation is all about contrast,” states Winn. “In fact, its tagline is ‘Creation' begins where destruction ends.’ This is an essential concept in the film. Light and dark, life and death, hot and cold, arid and lush, organic and inorganic, masculine and feminine. The dichotomies of these opposing factors and that fact that one without the other would have no significance is the underlying theme expressed in the film.”

Filmed in locations including Hollywood, Big Sur, Orange County, and Joshua Tree, "Creation" chooses to tell its story without dialogue, relying instead on music and a visual language so its message can be observed and understood internationally. By way of symbolism alluding to such subjects as philosophy, religion, science, spirituality, and mathematics, the story’s meaning is purposely left to the subjective interpretation of the viewer.

"Creation" will premiere on closing night of the AWFF, Thursday, November 17th at the Directors Guild of America Theater Complex at 7920 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046. The evening will consist of red-carpet arrivals, VIP reception, and the premiere of "Creation" followed by a screening of the AWFF’s winning Oscar-nominated film.
