Creation Records Movie From Trainspotting Team Set for March Release
Creation Stories, the new movie about the label behind My Bloody Valentine, Oasis, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive, and Primal Scream, will arrive in the United States on March 20, via Sky Cinema. Framed as a biopic of founder Alan McGee, the movie once again reunites the Trainspotting team of Danny Boyle and Irvine Welsh, who executive-produced and scripted the new film, respectively. (Welsh worked with his screenwriting partner Dean Cavanagh.) Watch a trailer for the film below.
Nick Moran, who has helmed Telstar: The Story of Joe Meek and The Kid, directed the film, which is based on McGee’s memoir The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves and Running a Label. In the lead role as McGee is Ewen Bremner, best known as Spud in Trainspotting.
In the United Kingdom, the film will premiere at the virtual Glasgow Film Festival on February 24 before a wider release on March 29. Moran said in a press release that the film is “part cautionary tale, part cavalier romp, mostly hilarious, occasionally sobering, and constantly engaging.… An irresistible trip down memory lane, or a delightful history lesson about the last great days of rock’n’roll. When Britannia ruled the airwaves, thanks to one man with his misfit mates and their indie record label that briefly changed history.”
