Beginning this fall, Penn State fans will have an opportunity to walk down memory lane and dive deeper into the 136 prior seasons of Nittany Lions football.
The university announced Thursday that ahead of the 2023 campaign, a new Legacy Plaza would be completed at Beaver Stadium to pay homage to Penn State’s football history.
Set to be located next to the south end zone tunnel of the stadium on Curtin Road, Legacy Plaza will feature plaques from every previous Penn State season, showcasing schedules, yearly results as well as team captains.
Penn State’s 920 total wins rank eighth all-time. The Nittany Lions have captured two national titles (1982, 1986) and posted 13 undefeated seasons. The school’s 31 bowl victories rank fourth all-time.
“Penn State football has rich tradition and history, and we are excited to be able to recognize all of those accomplishments with this new Legacy Plaza at Beaver Stadium,” said Patrick Kraft, vice president for intercollegiate athletics.
“We want our Lettermen, Varsity ‘S’ members, Blue Band members and all of Nittany Nation to be a part of this celebration of Penn State Football.”
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase pavers to be displayed in Legacy Plaza along with a custom engraved inscription for costs ranging from $350 to #1,000.
The Nittany Lions begin their season Sept. 2 in a home contest against West Virginia.
