Ja Morant is a simple man. You ask him an honest question, he’ll give you an honest answer. So when the Memphis Grizzlies star was asked something when he appeared during the 2022 Summer League, Morant didn’t hesitate to give an honest answer.

Let’s be honest, though: who wouldn’t be addicted to that?
On a more serious note, though, this self-professed addiction by Morant is kind of a good thing for the Grizzlies. As the team that signed him to a rookie deal, Memphis can offer their star more money and a longer contract in negotiations. This is a mechanism that was built into the CBA to give teams a better chance of retaining their stars.
It should be noted that Ja Morant is going to be paid the big bucks in the next few seasons. The Grizzlies star has already inked a supermax extension earlier in the season, with him taking the standard five-year, $193 million extension. That number could balloon even higher if the star reaches certain thresholds over the course of his contract.
The Grizzlies made some serious noise last season after a surprise run to the top of the Western Conference. The phenomenal coaching of Taylor Jenkins as well as breakout performances from Desmond Bane and Ja Morant put them firmly on top of the Conference. However, their inexperience was exposed in the playoffs, as they bowed to the eventual champions Golden State in six games.
With playoff experience under their belt, expect the Grizzlies to come back even stronger in the 2022-23 season.
