CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Natrona County Library hosts free craft events every week at their Creation Station.

“Today we have sashiko hand stitching which is a Japanese form of hand stitching it was traditionally used to repair kimonos and clothing for the winter so yeah we just thought it would be a really fun different project to do and kind of teach people about a different style of stitching,” library Adult Services Specialist Carrie Pardee.

The Creation Station was built in 2018 and expanded in April of this year. It is open to the public and can be accessed any time the library is open.

A few times a week the library hosts different craft opportunities in the space, including adult only and teen only crafting events. The events are free, educational and focus on monthly or seasonal themes like fall and Thanksgiving crafts for November.

The Creation Station contains multiple different machines for guests to use including sewing machines, 3-D printers, cricut machines, and a carving machine.

In order to use some machines, appointments must be made with library staff members. Staff members are also available for appointments for teaching how to use any of the tools available at the Creation Station.

“It’s just really fun to kind of learn new projects, learn how to work these machines and then the cool thing about this is a lot of people have been using them to make Christmas gifts... Gifts for families and it’s really nice because you can get something homemade have high quality,” said Pardee.
