ALBANY — Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit earlier this year, the Capital Region led the state in business formation applications over the past five years, according to a study by the Center for Economic Growth using U.S. Census Bureau data.
The strength in business formation activities also made Albany County the fastest-growing county in all of the Northeast, in terms of business application growth, CEG found.
The CEG study found that in 2019, there were 9,111 applications for business creation in the Capital Region, which is up 35 percent from 2015.
