MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's Common Council will take up a resolution Tuesday night that would create an independent, civilian panel that would have oversight over the city's police department.
If approved, the board would make policy recommendations and do an annual review of the police chief, among other things.
The resolution has already passed the city's Finance and Public Safety Review committees. It goes before the Common Council Executive Committee before the full council meeting Tuesday night. The executive committee will make a recommendation to the full council.
