To the Editor:
During an interview, Kenneth Hopkins, Republican candidate for mayor of Cranston, said he believed President Trump was doing a “good job” regarding the COVID pandemic.
Really?
More than 25,000 infected in Rhode Island, and more than 1,100 dead. Nationwide, nearly 210,000 dead and more than 7 million infected, including the President and First Lady. Is that a good job? What kind of judgment is that? Is it based on fact or party considerations, blind allegiance to a party with no allegiance to the citizens?
Mr. Hopkins says that, if elected, he will be the city’s Education Mayor. Education involved knowing the facts, imparting them to the taxpayers, and not relying solely on the party line.
Mayor Fung was once called President Trump’s No. 1 Fan. Will Mr. Hopkins be his No. 2 Fan?
Will his first loyalty be to the citizens of Cranston, or to his party? Will you believe him when he says he’s doing a good job?
