Hyatt Hotels Corp. has suspended the forfeiture of World of Hyatt reward points through June 30, 2021, the company announced. Points generally do not expire unless a member's account is inactive for 24 months.
In addition, the company has extended the expiration date to Dec. 31, 2021, for all awards with an expiration from March 1 to Dec. 31, 2020, including unused Free Night, Suite Upgrade and Club Lounge Access awards. Free Night awards earned in 2020 with a 2021 expiration date will be extended to Dec. 31, 2021. Suite Upgrade and Club Lounge Access awards with a Feb. 28, 2021, expiration date will be extended to Dec. 31, 2021.
Hyatt also is suspending its 2021 World of Hyatt hotel category award chart changes, meaning that most hotels will remain in their current categories in 2021, and the number of points required for redemption in 2020 will stay the same in 2021, with a few exceptions, including 12 hotels shifting to a lower award category effective Oct. 29, 2020, and four hotels shifting to a higher award category effective mid-March 2021.
As previously reported, Hyatt is postponing the introduction of off-peak and peak point redemption until July 2021.
