COSTA is shaking up its loyalty scheme within hours.

The coffee chain is launching a new "Treat Drop" feature tomorrow, July 30, on its Costa Club app.

Customers will see personalised discounted or free drinks or snacks land in their account.

They will then be able to claim them in a nearby Costa Coffee shop between July 31 and August 6.

Because the offers are personalised, the freebies and discounts will be unique to each customer.

Anyone signing up to the app after tomorrow will see their treat after logging in.

After tomorrow, Treat Drop rewards will land in members' apps monthly and be redeemable for one week.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson said some of the freebies and discounted products on offer include drinks from the chain's Refreshers range, salads and Salted Caramel Popcorn Brownies.

The Treat Drop feature will run alongside Costa Club's other offers, including free cake on customer's birthdays.

You can download the Costa Coffee app for free on to your iPhone or Android.

Once downloaded you have to set up an account with your email address and password.

Meanwhile, you can find your nearest Costa branch by using clicking the "Stores" button on the app.

Or, you can use the store locator on its website.

The latest news from Costa Coffee comes as the chain is set to make another big change to its loyalty scheme within days.

It currently gives customers a free drink after collecting eight beans - one after every drink - but from August 1 this is rising to 10.

The shake up has left some customers furious, including one who branded the move "disgusting".

A spokesperson for the chain previously defended the change-up.

They said: "We’ve made some changes to Costa Club, including how many Beans customers need to collect before they can redeem a free drink in store.

"They’ll still collect one Bean for every handcrafted drink they buy in a store or from a Costa Express machine but will need to collect 10 Beans to get a free drink."

In other news, people are just realising about a Costa trick to get a free coffee sooner – and it could save you £15.

Plus, we tested a number of canned coffees including Starbucks and Costa - and a supermarket version came out on top.
