VICTOR, N.Y. — There's a new way of story-telling at the Ganondagan State Historic Site.

Dozens of people visited the site to collaboratively paint a mural based on a line drawing of the Iroquois Creation Story by Seneca artist and site manager G. Peter Jemison.

While attendees were painting, Onondaga storyteller Perry Ground shared the creation story and other tales.

Jemison said this project is a good way to spur creativity in children and to help teach them life lessons.

"I want them to also learn our creation story and learn the message that comes from it," Jemison said. "That we need to find a balance between these two forces that exist in the world, and work toward the good, work toward the positive. Because we want to leave our mother earth to the generations that are coming in the future and make it livable for them."

Attendees were also welcomed to view the Iroquois Creation Story film, Seneca Art and Culture Center and other attractions on site.
