COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Secretary of State’s office received 15,230 new business filings in July, continuing the fast pace seen throughout 2021 so far.
Through the first seven months of the year, 126,665 new entities have submitted paperwork with the state to begin operations, a 32% increase from the same period a year ago.
“As I travel the state and speak with business leaders and chambers of commerce, I am continuously amazed by the pioneer spirit and resolve Ohioans continue to display amid times of economic uncertainty,” said Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose in a statement. “Ohioans have an innate sense of entrepreneurship that has kept our economy strong despite the headwinds our job creators have faced.
In 2020, a record 171,073 entities – nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships – filed paperwork, beating out 2019’s then-record by more than 40,000.
