Choice Hotels is delaying further the expiration of loyalty points for all members in its Choice Privileges reward program from May 31 to Dec. 31, 2020, the company announced Thursday. In addition, it has reduced elite status requirements, expanded upgrades and extensions for Gold and Platinum members, and added extensions and bonuses for Diamond members.
To qualify for elite status in 2021, the number of nights members are required to stay has been reduced from 10 to seven for Gold status, from 20 to 15 for Platinum status, and from 40 to 25 for Diamond status. Effective June 1 through Dec. 31, Gold members will be upgraded to Platinum, and Platinum members will be upgraded to Diamond. Upgraded members who stay at least five nights by Dec. 31, 2020, can maintain this enhanced status through Dec. 31, 2021. Those with fewer than five nights by Dec. 31 will revert to their original status and maintain it through Dec. 31, 2021.
For Diamond members, Choice is extending status levels through Dec. 31, 2021, and offering a 10 percent bonus in addition to the existing 50 percent bonus on points earned through Dec. 31, 2020.
The company also continues to offer its status match program, which allows loyalty members to match their elite status from another major hotel rewards program to the Choice Privileges program.
Also on Thursday, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced it is extending its Wyndham Rewards partnership with Caesars Entertainment and Caesars Rewards through 2021. The collaboration allows Wyndham Rewards members to earn and redeem points at participating Caesars Rewards destinations in the United States and Canada when they book direct through Wyndham channels. They also can transfer Wyndham Rewards points to Caesars Rewards credits, and vice versa, at a 1:1 ratio for up to 30,000 points per year. Further, Platinum and Diamond members of both programs may match to the corresponding level of their non-primary program, while Caesars Rewards Seven Stars members may match to Wyndham Rewards Diamond status.
