The Capitol Theatre, 220 W. Dominick St., will present a special program commemorating the completion of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative project, including the lighting of the newly installed marquee and vertical blade, on Saturday, Jan. 15.
The festivities will begin outdoors, in front of the theater at 6:15 p.m., when the marquee and blade will be illuminated for the first time. The remainder of the program will take place in the Capitol auditorium.
The program:
6:30 p.m.: Introduction and remarks by dignitaries.
6:50 p.m.: Short documentary on the Capitol restoration by Rick E. Lewis.
A re-creation of a 1928 Capitol Theatre movie program will follow:
7 p.m.: David Peckham organ specialties, “Hits of 1928”
7:12 p.m.: Capitol Greetings
7:17 p.m.: Vitaphone talking short subject — to be announced.
7:26 p.m.: Short silent comedy: Call Again with Edward Everett Horton, accompanied by David Peckham at the organ.
7:49 p.m.: feature film (silent): Show Girl (accompanied by Peckham).
